Dr. Abrell

  • Nothing to report

 

Tom Hernandez

  • New TikTok schemes have affected four of our schools this week.  People are displaying these fake guns that shoot water beads. This is not a joke.  The kids involved in the incident were arrested and discipline was handed out from the school.
  • There is no such thing as a school ranking in Illinois.  We are graded on how we meet the state standards, and that information can be found on the school state report card.

 

High School Report: Principal PSHS Bob Yanello

  • SAT will be occurring on April 13 and 14.
  • Juniors will be the only ones in attendance on April 13. And freshman and sophomores will be in attendance on April 14.
  • No finals for second semester, but students will finish up with assessments and final projects.
  • Prom season is coming up at the end of April and early May.
  • Step up days for 8th graders will be happening soon.

 

Middle School Report: Principal of Timber Ridge Dean Kariotakis

  • New principal Kate Perterson from Ira Jones will be the new principal at Timber Ridge.
  • Track, volleyball, and soccer are starting up again.
  • Shrek Jr is being performed at Timber Ridge this spring.
  • Promotion for eighth graders will occur May 26.
  • Battle of the Books just finished up.  Aux Sable defeated Timber Ridge.  The Aux Sable children were exceptional.
  • Anthony G finished third place in the Will County spelling bee.
  • Washington D.C. trip was in February, and it was an amazing trip.  The children were awesome and so well behaved. A Major General the kids met with said they were the best group he has worked with.
  • IReady testing is coming up this spring.
  • Step Up days will be happening soon for 5th graders.
  • Honors program for 5 to 6 grade honors will be offered this summer.
  • 7 to 8 grade summer school courses will be offered as well.
  • Bridge program for incoming 5th grades is also happening this summer.

 

Elementary School Report: Principal of Wallin Oaks Stacey DiBetetto

  • Eichelberger is having a golf outing.
  • Kindergarten registration opens after spring break.
  • Parents are always welcome to write letters to principals about your child and what they need to be successful in the future school year.

 

Board of Education: Barb Seiden

  •  The district put out an In-Focus video looking at their multi needs program.
  • The multilingual program has received a statewide achievement award.
  • The board approved 3 additional elementary education administrators for next year.
  • The board voted to move SPED transportation from Septran to First Student.  This was decided by how well First Student handled things when bussing issues happened because of vaccine issues, plus they had the best price when the contract was bid out.
  • Our district administrators are just amazing. They work for the district 24/7 and are totally committed to the best interest of the schools and community.

 

Community Report

 

Veronica Fabrazio-Plainfield Public Library

  • Bookmark design project is going on right now for students.
  • Third grade writing program for a short story about one day at the library.  Everyone who participates will receive a certificate.
  • April 22-23 the Fandom Fest is returning 
  • April 23 Prom-a-com for older children.
  • Fandom Fest is for all ages.  Artists, face painting, costume contest, and more will be occurring during the event.
  •  

Laura Yanchic Joliet Library

  • Minecraft program for drop in during the Tuesday of spring break from 2:00-4:00.
  • Thursday of spring break there will be a family photo shoot.  You do need to sign up for it.
  • Will County forest preserve to do owl pellet program
  • Newest employee will be a Spanish service worker for the youth department.

 

Plainfield Park District-Angela

  • Summer camp registration begins April 1. 
  • Preschool summer camp registration begins May 2.
  • National Walking Day is coming up and the track at the PARC will be open to all that day.
  • Ottawa Street Pool passes will be available May 1.
  • Multiple egg hunts will be occurring this year including, dog, flashlight, Easter bunny, and adult egg hunts.
  • April 18 the summer version of the activity guide will be delivered.
  • Summer registration opens May 2 for all activities.

 

CAPE President Report: Presented by Atiya Young

Homecoming Parade 2022 Update

  • Parade route has changed for next year.  The new route will be a cost savings for the village.
  • The parade will have a max of 80 floats next year.  The most they have had was 120 in the past.
  • We encourage all schools to join next year in the parade.  Applications will go live in July.
  • The parade committee needs volunteers so we may be asking for volunteers next year.
  • The theme is Movie Adventures.
  • If you use a trailer, it must be a max of 40 ft including the truck.
  • New awards for best band and best spirit squads starting next year.

CAPE Award Reception is April 20th PEHS 5pm

CAPE Community Scholarship deadline is April 1st 5 available $500 scholarships

 

Next meeting is April 29th, 2022, at 9:30am.
