TREASURER REPORT: Jodi shared the treasurer’s report. We are overshooting our budget after purchasing the laminator and poster maker. We have already made $22,489 of our $26,060 end of the year fundraising goal, so we are still doing well.
CAPE REPORT: Jessica reported that the strategic planning rough draft is complete and will be finalized at the next board meeting. Homecoming for next year has been set for September 30. Young Hearts For Life is looking for volunteers for their event at Plainfield East HS on December 13. The local public libraries have their Winter calendars available.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Building Enhancement Committee: Lauren reported that the wraps were approved by the team. We are waiting for the company to send us their design mockup. One approved they need to wait for weather above 40 degrees to install
Popcorn Committee: Jodi reported that we will be moving the popcorn club to one payment for the rest of the year in order to make it easier on us and teachers. Students can pay either $2.50 or $5.00 to order one or 2 bags of popcorn through the end of the year. Katie Hoffman has joined the committee.
Fundraising Committee
Amanda reported that Family Dinner Nights are December 14 at Station One Smokehouse, and February 13 at Lou Malnatis. January is supposed to be McDonalds, but Amanda is having trouble reaching our contact there to schedule the exact date.
The 5 Below fundraiser will be December 9 to 15 at the Joliet location. The flyers will be coming out this week. People must present the flyer in order for the school to receive credit.
Smencils were included in the holiday shop. If they sell well we will do a spring fundraiser selling Smencils
Local builder DR Horton has expressed interest in sponsoring teacher appreciation week. Lauren would like to start planning for this week in February.
Amanda reported that Springbank has donated a family membership. The board is discussing when they will raffle off the membership.
Movie Night Committee: Jodi reported that we purchased concession items ahead in order to take advantage of sales and raise the profit margin. Concession purchased will be altered to buy less chips and more push poMovieps. Dismissal went more smoothly. A few walkers showed up despite asking for no walkers. The committee will put on the next movie form that walkers are discouraged and will be sent out last. For the March movies the committee is going to change ticket prices to reflect concessions price for 2 items or no concessions.
MV PTO BUSINESS
The Holiday Shoppe is set up for the next two days.
Popcorn Day is Friday, January 13. Volunteers do not need to be there the whole time.
Family Trivia Night is January 20th. Amanda Dabbas is the committee chair. She is gathering prizes for first through third place winners. The company, Team Trivia, will provide the questions and a program to project. Mr. Dornik has volunteered to be the MC. Amanda’s husband’s company is sponsoring the event and will cover the trivia company charge. Jodi brought up the idea of having other events such as Trunk or Treat sponsored.
Teacher’s will be honored by the PTO during the week before the holiday break. Monday is hot chocolate, Tuesday is Bagels and Donuts, Wednesday is dessert day, and Thursday each staff member will be given a personalized cookie which cost $3.50 each. Amanda will order the Panera. Dr. Sorg says that teachers eat bagels and donuts equally so we will get the same amount of each. There are a total of 85 staff members. Families will be asked to donate desserts and hot chocolate. We are including the Bonnie McBeth staff.
